International Wine & Spirits Fair HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair (HKIWSF), in its 7th edition this year, will be held at 6-8 November 2014.

It is a platform for exhibitors to tap into the lucrative and flourishing wine markets in Asia and particularly the Chinese mainland. Last edition of HKIWSF once again presents as a truly international event for quality exhibitors and buyers from all over the world.

  •  Showcased 1,005 exhibitors from 40 countries and regions around the world
  • Attracted 20,452 trade buyers from 80 countries and regions throughout the trade days of the fair
  • The fair was opened to the public on the last day and welcomed 23,888 wine-lovers from the public
  • Apart from wines and liquors, special zones to showcase the comprehensive supply chain of wine industry including Wine Equipment and Accessories Zone; Wine Investment & Fine Wine Logistics Zone – a zone to cater for Asia’s growing needs of fine wine investors and collectors; Wine Education Zone in a bid to accommodate the needs of the growing wine-lovers’ thirst for wine knowledge
  • Friends of Wine – a special section displayed items that can go well with wine, including baked products, confectionery, biscuits and pasta
  • Activities to promote wine

The eventful HKIWSF is an arena for wine lovers to learn more about wine. Visitors can expect a multitude of activities such as Wine Tasting Sessions, Fine Wine Tasting, Ice Bar, Wine Industry Conference, Sommelier Summit, Master Classes, Seminars, and etc.

Hong Kong – wine trading hub to the rapidly growing Asian market

  • Zero wine duty – Hong Kong has removed all wine duties since February 2008. With no VAT or GST, Hong Kong is the first free wine port among major economies
  • Hong Kong is the only place in the world that has entered agreement with the China Customs authorities, allowing wine imports to go into China under CEPA and enhanced customs facilitation to speed up clearance process.
  • Hong Kong has overtaken New York as the largest wine auction centre in 2010 and kept the title for 3 consecutive years since 2010, with the total auction sales amounting to HK$1.2 billion in 2012

According to Euromonitor International, wine sales in Asia amounted to US$70.7 billion or 5.9 billion litres in 2012, up 64% and 45% respectively compared to five years ago. For 2013-2017, wine sales are forecast to grow 11% per annum in value terms and 8% per annum in volume terms
